about

Following the summer debut from Things With Wings, Skrufix are happy to announce their second release.

The one with Wings returns, but drafts in another winged creature to assist with production services, introducing The Crane to the label. Having been involved with labels such as Uncharted Audio, 64 Bar Music and Tzanda he is certainly no novice.

Here the duo produce under the name `Turtlez' and in keeping with the ethos of the label, the results are lively and set to bring any party to life, but vary nicely from what has gone before. TWW sights an artistic block and a little chat with a fellow producer as the reason behind this direction:

'Basically, I was feeling a bit lost musically and didn't really know what I wanted to be making. I was considering hanging up the headphones and I was telling Donga (Well Rounded) about it. He said I should take a step back, go back to my musical roots and find something I like again then take it forwards. I took his advice and started listening to lots of old jungle records then remembered a half-finished track I'd done with Crane that had an amen break in it, and decided to work on that again.'

...And the rest is history as the saying goes, or the future, depending on when you're reading this. Anyway, amen to that.

`I Want To Fly' is another pleasing experimentation of the different beats and techniques a producer has at their disposal, drawing upon the impressive styles of both artists.

And as if this wasn't enough, there's a treat of a remix from Nottingham producer, Spandex. After going weak at the knees and smashing his `Bermuda Triangle' track all over Berlin in the last two years, Skrufix were more than keen to get him involved with the label. Luckily he was keen as well, delivering a fine offering and different spin on the original.

More to come very soon, with two releases already lined up in the New Year, and after a string of successful parties in Berlin recently, it's only a matter of time before the next. Watch this space!
